Review of Billy and Me by Giovanna Fletcher

Blurb:

Sophie May has a secret. One that she’s successfully kept for years. It’s meant that she’s had to give up her dreams of going to university and travelling the world to stay in her little village, living with her mum and working in the local teashop. But then she meets the gorgeous Billy – an actor with ambitions to make it to the top. And when they fall in love, Sophie is whisked away from the comfort of her life into Billy’s glamorous – but ruthless – world. Their relationship throws Sophie right into the spotlight after years of shying away from attention. Can she handle the constant scrutiny that comes with being with Billy? And most of all, is she ready for her secret heartbreak to be discovered and shared with the nation?

Review:

This is a book which I’ve wanted to read for several months but I’ve never seemed to get round to it. Once I heard the news that Giovanna was writing a second book, I quickly began to read her debut and oh may, it did not disappoint.

Sophie, the main character, is a shy, innocent girl who I hoped wouldn’t be a pushover. She loves books and isn’t quite sure what to do with her life until she meets Billy *major swoon alert*

The chemistry between Sophie and Billy was unbelievably gorgeous – the sparks flew around the pages and into the minds of the readers. But once disaster strikes, as it always does in the land of Fiction, I immediately felt sorry for Sophie and wanted to comfort her. Is the relationship worth being in the spotlight for? Does she truly love him? Would he be willing to give his stardom up for her? All those questions and so many more were running around in my mind and finally, my questions were answered.

Giovanna’s debut was well worth waiting for and I can’t wait until the second book is published.

Congratulations to Gi and her husband on their pregnancy – I wish you both nothing but the best. X
