The Sunday Post #01

It’s Saturday afternoon as I’m writing this and let me just say, it feels SO good to be back on my blog, creating content and catching you all up with what’s been going on.

I had a little bit of time away from my blog, two weeks to be exact and I really needed it. I knew that I’d be taking a break just after Christmas and I’m glad I did because it was so nice to fill my days with plans without worrying about how my latest post was doing.

But now I’m back and v. excited to share the upcoming content with you all.

So, where do I start?

*I should probably warn you now: this may be a long post with lots of photos…

Christmas + Birthday Celebrations

It feels v. strange to be sharing a photo of our festive living room on the 7th January but I haven’t updated you about how Christmas was.

Quiet. Relaxed. Food. Laughter. Family.

Five of my favourite words.

Christmas Day is always a relaxing time in our household; dinner is around 4pm before the Mr comes over in the evening and we all gather around the table to play Monopoly.

The following day, Boxing Day, was my 27th birthday. Once again, it was a quiet time which I really wanted. I saw my nephews, my Nan came over, we watched a few films and had a little buffet as our dinner. I received some really lovely presents; the Harry Potter cup being one of my firm favourites, naturally.

What I’ve Been Reading

In 2017, I read 24 books.

For me, that’s quite poor but I knew that with a new career and less time to myself, that I would struggle to have a few hours to sit back and read. Hopefully, I’ll be able to read a lot more wonderful books this year.

I started to read What Fresh Hell? by Lucy Vine (8th March, 2018) just before Christmas and when I’ve had the chance, I’ve been reading a few chapters here and there. It’s a very amusing read, full of brilliantly written moments.

I should hopefully have a review coming pretty soon…

Day Trip: Leeds

I love Liverpool, but I also love exploring new places.

I visited Leeds a few months ago and loved what it had to offer. The Mr and I had every intention of going shopping in the sales but when we got there, we were a little disappointed. I came home with shower gel, a set of pencils and a sausage dog mug – not exactly shop ’til you drop.

With the news of my new job being fresh in the air, we had a celebratory meal at Wagamama’s which has quickly become one of my favourite restaurants. I went for the cherry duck pancakes as a side and for main, the Tonkatsu (highly recommend both!).

The Greatest Showman

I’m sure you’ve all heard about this film by now and if you haven’t…

The Mr and I had a cinema day before New Year and my request was to see The Greatest Showman. I’d seen the trailer once, heard wonderful things about it but refused to listen to the soundtrack as I didn’t want to know any of the songs before watching the film.

Oh, it’s amazing. Absolutely amazing. From start to finish, I was completely captivated by magic within the film. I hardly ever watch Hugh Jackman films but he seriously impressed with me, not only with his acting, but with his singing and dance moves. It was just beyond any expectations which I had created in my mind.

It’s a must see for any member of the family.

A Girl’s Day With Megan

You’ll all know Megan by now as she’s been featured on my blog many times.

On the 2nd of January, we met up for breakfast in one our favourite local cafes, chatted for a good hour or so before braving the rain to take a few outfit photos.

With the weather being rubbish, our shoot didn’t go according to plan and with things going on behind the scenes, she was in need of cheering up so I treated her to a trip to the cinema to see Pitch Perfect 3. I really enjoyed the first two so we were both looking forward to what the third had in store and oh my, Fat Amy really does make me laugh.

It’s a very easy film to watch, the songs are brilliant and I just love the cast.

Our Annual Trip To London

The Mr and I really enjoy travelling, whether it’s within Britain or somewhere abroad. We tried to visit London in December but due to the trains + hotels being stupidly expensive, we decided to save our trip until the beginning of January.

3 days of non-stop walking, non-stop sight seeing, non-stop photo taking and I absolutely loved it but I’m so glad to be back home in the countryside with fresh air.

I’m not going to say too much about our trip as I have a very long blog post coming your way on Wednesday.

AND… We’re all caught up! I realise this was a pretty, jam packed post for a Sunday morning but I didn’t want to leave anything out. I plan on keeping up with my regular Sunday posts as you all requested that I do so and I really enjoy writing them!
