With over 70 restaurants dotted across the UK, Cafe Rouge is a beautiful restaurant serving only the best French dishes. Serving from the early hours for breakfast to the late diners with a delicious main menu, there is a choice for everyone.
On Sunday, I was kindly invited down to their Cheshire Oaks restaurant to try their new Croque lunch dishes..
Within the menu, they are three new delicious croques among the original Monsieur (smoked ham) and Madame (smoked ham with a fried free range egg).
- Portobello Mushroom; roast portobello mushroom, baby spinach, goats’ cheese and a drizzle of truffle oil.
- Hot Smoked Salmon; hot smoked salmon, garlic cream cheese and chive.
- Club; roast chicken, crispy pancetta and baby gem lettuce with sun dried tomato bechamel.
Needless to say, there was only one on the menu which I was very excited to try and that was the Club Croque.
I can’t even begin to tell you how full we were after our lunch.
We both opted for the club along with a side of fries (so crunchy yet fluffy) and it is safe to say that we were pretty full for a good few hours.
Inside the Club croque is roast chicken, crispy pancetta and baby gem lettuce but the most surprising element is the sun dried tomato bechamel on top.
The bechamel sauce is a lovely, creamy sauce for the top of the club croque.
It certainly added more of a uniqueness to the croque, that’s for sure but at times, it was a little bit over powering for me.
Thank you very much to the lovely team at Cafe Rouge for hosting us!
If you’re in the North West, Cafe Rouge can be found in Cheshire Oaks, Chester and/or Trafford Centre. They’ve sadly closed the Liverpool restaurant.
