The Denim Shorts Perfect For Summer

Finding a pair of denim shorts is like finding a pair of jeans.

It takes months of searching, many hours of trying on, a few returns but at long last, you’ve found the best ones for you and your body.

New Look seem to be my favourite high street clothing store at the moment and I’m not even sorry because their slogan tees are the absolute best.

With Topshop providing me with the best jeans I’ve even owned, I turned to New Look in search of some new denim shorts at the beginning of May and I really did hit the jackpot with these.

At a first glance, it doesn’t look like I’m wearing shorts, right?

A lot of people have asked me where my denim skirt is from and I’ve had to tell them that I don’t own one, that in actual fact, they’re shorts and it’s properly because I stand like an awkward sloth.

It is extremely rare that I shop online but for some reason, I did a big £60 New Look online order at the beginning of May and not a single item went back.

One of those items was a pair of blue button front distressed denim shorts (£11) * and I can not stop wearing them.

** I paid £19.99 for the shorts, but as of 4th July when I write this post, they are being sold for £11**

I would never usually go for a distressed style of shorts but there was just something about the relaxed style which I really liked.

Right now, my weight isn’t where I want to be and so with majority of my outfits, I like shorts/trousers/skirts/jeans to be high waisted and these shorts tick that box for me.

The button fastening is an aspect of denim shorts that I think everyone is used to and yet, they’re a slight pain when you’re absolutely bursting for the toilet!

The fray hem and the distressed detailing allows the shorts to give your outfit a relaxed vibe and so they’re ideal to pair up with any style of top. For this particular day, I teamed it up with my Primark ‘Dreamer’ tee and a pair of gladiator sandals (a post about those is coming up!)

The only advice I’d give when purchasing these shorts is to size up. I’m a UK size 12 when it comes to shorts (depending on the shop), but they were tight around my legs when I sat down which was quite uncomfortable and so, I went for a UK size 14 which gives them a bit of room when I’m sat down.

Don’t mind me, I’ll just be wearing my new favourite pair of denim shorts until the sun stops shining!
